Tocumen International Airport handled 11,531,295 passengers during the first half of 2026, representing 15% growth compared with the same period last year. This result reaffirms Panama’s role as one of Latin America’s leading air connectivity hubs and strengthens its position as a strategic gateway between Central America, South America, North America, and Europe.
Tocumen International Hub Growth in Numbers
Of the total passenger traffic recorded, a significant share consisted of connecting passengers. Approximately 76% of travelers used Tocumen as a connection point, highlighting the airport’s importance within Panama’s air hub model and its key role in international mobility.
The growth in air traffic has an impact that extends well beyond airport operations. Higher passenger volumes drive activity in hotels, restaurants, transportation, retail, corporate services, and tourism, particularly in areas connected to the capital’s major transportation corridors.
