US$20 MILLION TENDER TO DRIVE EXPANSION OF ISLA COLÓN AIRPORT

The Isla Colón Airport expansion is moving forward as Panama’s Civil Aviation Authority announced that eight companies participated in the preliminary phase of the bidding process for the expansion of José Ezequiel Hall International Airport on Isla Colón, Bocas del Toro. The project represents an estimated US$20 million investment aimed at strengthening air connectivity to one of Panama’s premier tourism destinations.

What the Isla Colón Airport Expansion Includes

The project includes extending the runway, constructing a new taxiway, building a modern passenger terminal, expanding the aircraft apron, renovating the control tower, upgrading emergency response facilities, and developing new hangar areas. Bid submissions are scheduled to be opened in late July as part of the public procurement process.

The airport modernization will increase passenger capacity and support additional airline operations, further boosting tourism in Bocas del Toro while creating new opportunities for private investment throughout the province.

Upgraded airport infrastructure often serves as a catalyst for new hotels, retail developments, residential communities, and complementary commercial services, all of which contribute to enhancing the region’s real estate appeal and long-term investment potential.
